Chrisell + Evelyn

Our story

Chrisell and Evelyn, embarked on a journey that would defy the odds and inspire everyone who crossed their path. Chrisell, a creative entrepreneur from sunny San Diego, and Evelyn, a visionary with roots in Japan, had never met in person, yet destiny had a unique plan in store for them. Their connection unfolded on the vibrant canvas of Instagram. Chrisell had been diligently building her home-based business, DIY Selly, while Evelyn poured her heart and soul into her own venture, Events with Eve, specializing in party decor and delightful desserts. Despite the miles that separated them, their shared passion for artistry and entrepreneurship brought them together.

One fateful day, Chrisell found herself in Japan, and Evelyn, who had been following her creative journey on Instagram, couldn't resist reaching out. She suggested a charming café that she thought Chrisell would adore. Little did they know that this simple message would be the spark that ignited their remarkable partnership. As the world grappled with the challenges of the pandemic, most events ground to a halt. But for Chrisell and Evelyn, this adversity was a hidden blessing. Their businesses began to thrive, with DIY Selly witnessing a surge in orders from people eager to celebrate life's precious moments. It wasn't just about selling products; it was about being a part of the cherished celebrations of their clients, making them even more memorable with their handcrafted creations.

Emboldened by their newfound success and the enduring connection they had forged, Chrisell and Evelyn dared to dream bigger. They decided to take a leap of faith and leave the confines of their home kitchens. Their quest led them on an epic adventure, from searching for a landlord willing to take a chance on two passionate entrepreneurs to navigating the process of securing city permits. The journey was long and filled with obstacles, but they refused to surrender their dream. They believed in their vision and knew that their shared passion had the power to create something truly extraordinary. Finally, after months of relentless determination and unwavering faith, they had their own space—an Atelier where they could showcase their boundless love for sharing their creations with the world.

Thus, Flour Atelier was born, a testament to the indomitable spirit of Chrisell and Evelyn. Their establishment wasn't just about special occasions; it was about celebrating life every day. In this enchanting space, they served up more than just pastries and lattes; they served up a slice of joy, a bouquet of happiness, and a cup of inspiration to brighten everyone's day.

Flour Atelier became a beacon of hope, a place where dreams took flight, and where two extraordinary women proved that when you believe in your vision and pursue it with determination, even the most daunting challenges can be overcome. Chrisell and Evelyn's story was a reminder to us all that every encounter, every obstacle, and every setback can be a stepping stone on the path to greatness. So, join them in their Flour Atelier, where every creation is a work of art, and every day is a reason to celebrate life's beauty.

Chrisell Gonzales Nguyen

I remember crying in front of my desk job because I hated every second of it. My creative outlet was not being utilized working for a corporation.

Once I realized I was able to create a product that tasted good and make pretty, I knew it came from my heart. The feeling I received by simply making someones celebration more memorable was truly what I was born to do.

Not only did I find my calling in life, I also learned It stems deeper to my childhood traumas. Giving love and passion into my creations makes me give love the way I wished love was given to me as a little girl.

I’m still healing through my years of trauma, but I get to heal through all of the smiles and love my cakes bring to every celebration.

I have always been the artistic one in my family, but never thought I could turn that passion into my profession.  Ever since I was little, I always had an eye for design and loved seeing and experiencing anything of beauty.

Growing up in Japan, my mother would always take us to other countries in the summers to learn about other cultures and see what the world had to offer.  Little did I know that all of that experience was setting me up for Flour Atelier.

My desire to share everything that brings me joy is becoming a reality.  Through creating and sharing, I have found my true purpose in life.  I am so blessed to be able to do what I love everyday, and I hope to keep touching everyone's heart by sharing our creations made with love.

“We wanted to create a space for us to do what we love. To passionately create with all other artists. We bake, but we don’t call ourselves bakers. We love making people feel good with our creations, whether it be with food, or our art.”
